Despacito is a song from 2017 made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the most streamed and downloaded song worldwide within just 6 months. It was a mixture of pop music and reggaeton did not just bring interest to reggaeton, but also attracted attention to Latin music generally. In 2015 there were two predominantly Spanish-speaking songs in Billboard's Top 100 and in 2016 there were four. In 2017, at the height of Despacito's popularity 19, 19 songs mostly in Spanish have made it into the Top 100. By 2020 the number will increase to 41 tracks within this genre. Following the time that Justin Bieber released his bilingual remix of Despacito in the year 2017, the most well-known artists began to join forces with reggaeton artists. Drake and Bad Bunny collaborated on MIA (2018) and Madonna joined forces with Maluma on Medellin in the year 2019. The gradual mainstreaming of reggaeton became an issue for certain performers by 2020. Rauw alejandro and a young generation, however, were keen to keep the look.
